Kerry qualified as a nurse, then as a midwife, completing a commission in the nursing branch of the Royal Air Force as a first career move. While living in Europe, she took the opportunity to diversify into the management of small businesses in travel and insurance for a few years but later returned to the NHS to continue as a professional midwife.
Driven by a passion to help improve standards in social care, and concerned about working conditions in the NHS, Kerry ultimately switched careers and has since held diverse posts in the sector, including training and assessing carers, and in the management of residential care homes and domiciliary care settings. She has managed a start-up care franchise for a well known provider, and also an inspector in the Care Quality Commission driven by a passion to improve quality and compliance. This later led to working for a large international company supporting clusters of large residential and nursing homes.
Currently, now approaching retirement, Kerry still acts as a compliance officer and trainer for a growing national home care franchise network. She enjoys travel, dog walking, visiting the coast, sewing and amateur dramatics.

Beth remembers being sent to do community work in the 6th form at her boarding school which was in a Nursing home and never forgot the experience.
She trained as a Social Worker in 1978 and took her first mental health post in 1980. Beth has worked in 7 social service departments, 5 community mental health teams and 2 housing associations as a social worker and a trainer nearly always specialising in older people’s mental health. In 1999 she became training officer to the Dementia Unit at Oxford Brookes University a great job, it was one of a national strategy to create Dementia Services Development Centres across the UK & Ireland, which sadly failed due to the lack of financial support. She then became a specialist dementia trainer, creating bespoke programmes for housing staff, nurses, day centres, G.P.’s, nursing homes, residential care, domiciliary staff, and family carers.
In 2009 Beth felt she was too far removed from practice and returned to working in the Community Mental Health Team in Towcester. Since that time, she has done both part-time which has kept her in touch with the world of care.
She officially retired from Social Work in 2022 and from training in 2024. Beth is a Trustee for Dementia Active and has recently signed up as an Advocate with Voiceability.
