September Activity at Swarthmore

5th October

It was a busy month for birthdays – lots of lovely ladies had a special cake made for the occasion. Exercise is so important so our very own Sarra is running her weekly exercise classes in the lounge. Lots of residents are taking part, fun had by all. Its important for everyone to keep moving, exercise our body so we can move around as long as possible. Lots of participating residents – we look forward to more pictures.

Quaker Meetings are held on Sunday’s via Zoom live from Jordans Quaker Meeting Room. Residents at Swarthmore can attend the weekly meeting in our Quiet Room. This gives time to reflect, continue their meetings and they can see their fellow friends. Thank goodness for technology during these testing times.

We held our Annual Macmillan Coffee Morning without visitors. We received cake donations from Waitrose and Tesco. Members of staff made cakes and we were able to enjoy and raise money for Cancer Awareness. Thank you to everyone who donated.

Ann Marie and Torrie managed to arrange a couple of ladies to sing to the residents from the gardens. Residents and staff sat inside whilst Heidi and Emily sang from the outside. Thank you for delivering a super choice of songs and beautiful voices. This was a wonderful experience enjoyed by Residents and staff. The residents danced along with staff and sang their hearts out.

We have also experienced armchair visits to Brazil and other countries, exploring all sorts of knowledge. Shirmin, one of our Senior Carer's shared the knowledge of her stamp collection with the residents. Lots of stamps to view with interesting facts.

A big thanks to our Head of Housekeeping, Louise.  She has stepped in as our hairdresser during these difficult times. This has kept our lovely ladies looking glamorous as ever and our gents looking spick and span. A big thank you for your extra hard work.
