🌸 A Month of Meaningful Moments & Activities

It’s been a wonderfully busy and enriching month for our residents, filled with creativity, learning, celebration, and connection. Here’s a look at some of the special moments we’ve shared together.

šŸŽØ Creativity & Community Connections

A highlight this month was a lovely visit to ISCA where students joined residents for a relaxing watercolour painting session. These intergenerational visits are always incredibly special bringing together creativity, conversation, and shared learning.

Creative activities like these:

  • Stimulate cognitive skills
  • Encourage social interaction
  • Build a strong sense of community

Residents also enjoyed Easter arts and crafts, getting into the seasonal spirit with colour and creativity. These sessions not only spark imagination but also provide a wonderful opportunity to connect and socialise.

šŸŽ Talks, Entertainment & Activities

We had a delightful afternoon with Anne Park, who gave a talk on the Beatrix Potter Ballet. Residents enjoyed discussing costumes and themed items, alongside some fascinating objects Anne brought in, including:

  • A paper mĆ¢chĆ© trinket box
  • A German mug
  • Kenyan salad servers
  • A carved wooden Eskimo figure from Greenland

Adding a touch of magic to the month, Julie from Care Entertainment wowed residents with a lively magic show, complete with tricks and creative balloon art—bringing smiles all around.

šŸŽ‰ Celebrations & Special Moments

There have been many celebrations this month:

  • šŸ€ St Patrick’s Day was marked with a fun-filled Irish picture bingo, complete with prizes.
  • šŸ’ A truly remarkable 69th wedding anniversary was celebrated surrounded by family, residents, and staff—a beautiful reminder of lasting love.
  • šŸŽ‚ A very special birthday milestone was honoured with a traditional afternoon tea, filled with laughter, warmth, and cherished memories.

🐦 Gentle Activities & Wellbeing

Residents enjoyed a peaceful morning making bird feeders, followed by time spent watching and feeding the birds—simple pleasures that bring smiles all round.

We also continue to benefit from our much-loved weekly pet therapy visits from Thula and his owner, Didi. These visits are always warmly received, offering comfort, companionship, and plenty of cuddles.

Pet therapy is a wonderful way to:

  • Lift spirits
  • Encourage interaction
  • Create meaningful moments

🧠 Reminiscence & Learning

A meaningful afternoon of reminiscence, using items kindly loaned from our local library. These sessions are a fantastic way to spark memories, encourage conversation, and gently exercise the mind as residents reflect on the past.

We were also delighted to welcome Karen Van Oostrum, who delivered a fascinating talk on Botanical Fruits and Seeds. Residents were especially intrigued by the double coconut—the largest seed in the world, found only in the Seychelles. It was a truly engaging session that proved you’re never too old to learn something new!

šŸ’› A Month to Remember

From learning and creativity to celebration and companionship, this month has been filled with meaningful experiences that support wellbeing, connection, and happiness.

We look forward to many more special moments in the month ahead!
