As another month comes to an end, we welcome the crisp colourful autumn. The leaves are falling in a cascade of warm colours, and the mild weather lets us enjoy the outdoors a little longer. As the days shorten and the evenings grow darker, it’s a perfect time to embrace the season’s cosy nights indoors.
This month, one of our former Trustees shared their expertise in a delightful talk about wooden items. With an array of examples to examine and discuss, the session was both educational and engaging. It was wonderful to learn about the craft, history, and artistry behind these items—proof that there’s always more to discover!
We’ve also had some bittersweet farewells to members of our staff. Lizzy is off to explore Europe as she embarks on her travels, and Courtney is heading into the next chapter of her career. We wish them both all the best in their new adventures! Meanwhile, Dot, one of our caring team members, has continued to amaze us with her baking talents. Her cakes are beautifully crafted and thoughtfully chosen for each person, adding a special, personal touch to our celebrations. If anyone’s looking for a show-stopping cake, she’s the person to ask!
A special moment this month was the visit from students at the Teikyo School, who had the chance to sit down with our residents. They engaged in lively conversations, asking questions that will help them build stories about different lifestyles across generations. This was the first meeting for many, as the students are new to the school, but the connection between our residents and these young people will continue.
We also dove into the spirit of autumn with seasonal crafts, creating autumn leaf designs for scrapbooks and intricate macrame mobiles. These pieces look lovely displayed in our dining room windows, adding a touch of seasonal artistry to our space.
Another lively visit to Get Set 4 Tennis in Maple Cross. Our residents enjoyed a lively game of indoor tennis, bringing out their competitive spirits and having a great time staying active. This monthly activity has quickly become a favourite, combining exercise with a lot of laughter and fun.
